To start, this thread might touch base on recent events in Amazing Spider-Man. If you don't want to be spoiled, exit now!

This topic was touched on in Jake's contrarian thread but I wanted to see this expanded even more after what happened in AMS this week. To wit: does a normal marriage and family have a place in comics?

DC has a smattering of them. Lois and Clark obviously. Wally and Linda, plus their kids. Some retirees with Jay and Joan, Alan and Molly. Rex Tyler is married as far as I know but we've yet to see Mrs. Tyler IIRC.

There's other marriages and long term relationships but they have issues. Aquaman and Mera. Ollie and Dinah. Hawkman and Hawkwoman only recently reunited after a long layoff. Don't get me started on Batman. Either of them.

Marvel has an even worse track record. Only T'Challa and Ororo have any sort of semblance of a good marriage but they're practically newlyweds. The Richard's are horrible examples with Sue's once a decade fling with a certain Atlantean. The fact that she keeps a salt water pool in the Baxter Building as a poke to Reed only further shows the insecurity of their marriage. (I do find that funny though.) Marvel couldn't keep Black Bolt and Medusa together once they got married. Heck, they couldn't even keep supporting characters like Jonah and Marla Jameson or Rick Jones and Marlo together.

So can marriage and family work in comics? What are your thoughts?

Cover of the week nominations start again. Please read the rules below. 1 Nomination or second per person. Poll threads will be posted every Monday.

1. Original Comic Covers, trades, hardcovers only. Please specify Title and issue # as well as cover artist name. Also a Pic must be included of the cover.

2. Everyone gets 1 nomination. You can either nominate a cover yourself or second/third/fourth/fifth an already existing nomination.

3. If you want to change your nomination there are a few factors involved. A) No one can have seconded your nom. If it is clear for you to change your nom, you can say so in a new post or pm me. But you MUST be clear in your post that you're changing your nom. You can change your second or third, etc by re-posting, also. Again, be clear in your re-post.

4. Comics with multiple covers can have nominations for each cover, but please specify the artist/variant name when posting your nomination. Remember when you are nominating and seconding/thirding to state which one you are putting your endorsement on.

5. Nominations will be open until Sunday. The poll thread will be opened on Monday Mornings.

6. Lets be civil when commenting on other peoples covers. If you have something negative to say about a cover give your reasons. No more "That looks like...." posts about other covers.

7. If the image does not include the title and issue number, you must type out the title and issue number of the cover you are nominating.

8. In instances where a single image has been split into multiple covers, those covers will not be combined into one entry.

Any nominations not following the above rules will be disqualified.

Comics, especially detail-heavy ones like Green Lantern, often have little things you notice and would like to know more about, or bits of continuity that make you curious. You wonder what the writer's thought process was when they put in this detail.

This thread is where you can get those questions of your chest. It'll probably be really geeky, but hey, that's why we're here, right? So, if you've got questions about what's in the Green Lantern books - what that scene meant, where that Lantern first appeared, who was that funny little guy in the background, and so on - post 'em here.

And I know that Geoff Johns occasionally posts here, so, who knows, maybe he'll stop by?

My questions:

What, if any, role do the events of Emerald Dawn play in the post-Infinite Crisis DCU? I'd imagine the fight with Legion occurred in some capacity (some guys who died there are seem among the Black Lanterns) but what capacity was it?

Where does Ebikar Hrui fit in the succession of 2815 now that it seems to be Rrabs-only?

Opto was savaged by Kalibak in Final Crisis but then appears alive during Agent Orange. Was this an artistic error or did he actually survive?

On that note, was the presence of the "New Corps" members, including the psychotic Magaan, on the cover of Infinite Crisis #7 considered in-continuity?

Does Harvid have one brother or two? His profile seems rather ambiguous.

What's the deal with Bruun? Is she identical to Bynarri, who apparently died?

If you respond to any of these, or any subsequent post, you have my thanks, Mr. Johns.

When you think about it a nice 'clearing of the air' with Moore from the new DC establishment and even (gasp) reverting the rights back to him and Dave Gibbons would have been a very cool move.

That being said...IF he HAD to have a job I think Highschool teacher and Track coach would be the way to go. MUCH better IMO than police mechanic. Didn't Geoff establish the Mirror version of Wally being a teacher and track coach? In Wonderland if I remember correctly? That is a gig I think would really fit Wally well IF he needs to have a job. Plus the hours of a teacher really give him time to be a superhero. Summers off and out early and all that.

What do you guys think?
